UK Ticket Wins Record £195m EuroMillions Jackpot

It’s been a long wait but Tuesday, July 19 saw EuroMillions history created. A single ticket sold in the UK won a record £195.7 million.

The winning numbers were: 06-23-27-40-41 and the two Lucky Stars 02 and 12. With a selection like that, we can rule out that all the main numbers were birthdays and anniversaries as has been the case with some winners.

Friday’s EuroMillions jackpot will be £14 million. However, the new record might not last too long with the jackpot cap now €240 million..

The winner is yet to come forward. If they opt to remain anonymous, then we will never know just who the record holder is. The previous highest EuroMillions jackpot win was in October 2021 when a ticket sold in Tahiti won €220 million

First win since June 10

It was on July 8th that the jackpot cap was reached. There had been a EuroMillions Superdraw in late June but players just weren’t able to match the five main numbers and two Lucky Stars. In fact, it’s the first win since June 10 when a UK ticket won £54 million.

Five other tickets won the second-tier prize in Tuesday’s draw. Three were sold in France, one in Spain, and the other in Belgium. Each of those tickets won €4,413,400.80

117 UK tickets have now won a EuroMillions jackpot. That’s two behind the record holders France and now three ahead of third-placed Spain.  2022 has seen the EuroMillions jackpot won on nine occasions with ten successful tickets.

Another big win for the UK

France has sold three winning tickets this year worth £144 million. Ireland, Portugal, and Spain have sold one each but it’s the UK that keeps winning the top jackpots. They have had four jackpot wins in 2022 that total £542 million with three wins of over £100 million.

The top European jackpot is still intact though. Tuesday’s SuperEnalotto draw ended in a rollover and Thursday’s top prize is €241.3 million. In the USA, Friday’s Mega Millions draw has a $630m jackpot.
