Widowed Retiree Wins $3.3 million Saturday Gold Lotto Prize

Australia’s South Queensland has a new millionaire. A retired man from Toowoomba won $3.3 million in the April 10 Saturday Gold Lotto draw. It’s a win that means a great deal to the widower.

He and his late wife always used to play the Saturday Gold Lotto. They had their own special set of numbers but they didn’t bring a great deal of success until now.

When his wife sadly passed away, he continued to play the numbers and now they’ve won him $3.3 million. It’s the latest big win in Queensland after  a $60 million Australian Powerball win in February.

His ticket was registered and that meant the lottery company knew who had won but his number had been disconnected. They had to wait for the retiree to contact them.

Until now the most that those special numbers had won was $600. That was a win he described as “memorable.” No wonder the Saturday Gold Lotto jackpot winner says he “could not believe”  that now he’d won $3.3 million.

He now plans on contacting a financial advisor so that he can make the most of his win. One plan he does have though is to share his amazing windfall with others. That’s just  what a $40 million Lotto Max winner did.

Looking down on me

Although he was delighted with this Saturday Gold Lotto win, he  said: 'It would've been nice to share this moment with her, but she's looking down on me.'

The May 10 Saturday Gold Lotto draw saw six tickets each win $3.3 million. Of the other five winning tickets, three were sold in New South Wales and two in Victoria.

One of the Victorian winners is a male player who has been buying tickets for almost ten years. He said: “I knew a big win would come around one day.”

Sleeping well

Most winners struggle to sleep after discovering their winner. Not this player who said not having any financial worries led to him saying: “Honestly, I have slept better since I discovered the win.”
