Wisconsin Finally Gets a Mega Millions Jackpot Win
2020 has been a big year for two of the states that play the Mega Millions draw. Arizona and now Wisconsin have had their first ever jackpot wins.
It was back in June that a ticket sold in Arizona won a $414 million jackpot. Now Wisconsin has finally seen a ticket sold in the state win the top prize. The state had been trying to get a Mega Millions jackpot win for over a decade. The state first started playing the draw at the end of January 2010.
The draw held on September 15 had a $120 million jackpot. Initially, the jackpot total had been estimated to be $119 million. However, additional sales added another million dollars to that total.
No Low Numbers
The jackpot hadn’t been won since the July 31 draw when a ticket sold in California won $22 million. Tuesday’s draw changed all that though. No one has yet come forward to collect this historic win. What we do know is that the lucky winner doesn’t like choosing low numbers or it was a random set of numbers selected for them. That’s because it was 25-28-38-59-62 and the Mega Ball 22 that were drawn out.
Fifth Jackpot Win of 2020
The September 15 win was the fifth time the Mega Millions jackpot had been won this year. That win for an Arizona ticket was the highest of 2020. New Jersey have two winners, scooping $123 million in July and $202 million the following month. The other win was the July jackpot success in California, that came a week after the second New Jersey win.
27 states have been lucky enough to win a Mega Millions jackpot. Wisconsin has a long way to go to catch up with New York. That state has won the jackpot on 37 occasions. Second in the list is California with 32, followed by New Jersey with 22. Who knows, now that the state of Wisconsin has finally had its first jackpot win, perhaps a second Mega Millions jackpot is just around the corner.
