$2 million Lottery Winner Wants to Build an Emu Race Track
There are so many ways in which a big lottery win can be spent but a recent $2 million winner from Australia has a rather unique dream.
The Gold Lotto winner comes from Queensland and his dream is to create a race track. Not for horses though, but emus.
The Cannonvale resident said that he’s been playing the Gold Lotto draw for a couple of years. However, the lucky player admits: “I never expected for this to happen to me.”
Childhood dream
Since he was a child, he’s always loved emus and the idea of building a race track for them has often been on his mind. That dream could now come true thanks to his Gold Lotto win.
He owns property between Proseperine and Airlie Beach so he already has the land in place. As he says: “With $2 million - who knows?” Two Lotto winners visited every horse racing course track in the UK thanks to their win.
Before that though he was planning a big celebration with his friends. His winning ticket was purchased from News Whitsunday in Whitsunday Plaza Centro, Cannonvale. The store is owned by Rich Bates and he said it was the third division one winning entry they’ve sold in the last three years but the first since May 2024.
Also celebrating a big lottery win are a syndicate of four players from Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. They won $2.1 million in the September 20 TattsLotto draw.
The syndicate leader found out about the win and quickly let the other members know the great news by holding a virtual meeting with them. It’s the latest big win in Victoria after a recent $20 million Australian Powerball jackpot success.
Patient players
He revealed how they’d been playing the same lottery numbers for the past 17 years. In that time they’d only had a division three win but now they’ve landed the big one.
Plans for the winnings include paying off a very important bill. “I’ll be paying off the mortgage, that's for sure,” said the lottery winner.
