Having a cup of coffee can be good for you, especially if you are a member of the coffee club from Albany in Western Australia. A 22-strong syndicate has claimed the $10m jackpot won in the October 2 Oz Lotto draw.

The lucky Oz Lotto syndicate were also fortunate enough to win some other division prizes and in total they won $10,068,267. Each member of the syndicate will receive $457,000 after being lucky enough to match 07-15-16-24-38-41-43 to win the Oz Lotto jackpot.

The close friends began their Oz Lotto syndicate four years ago. One of the syndicate members explained how they began a daily coffee club which now meets most mornings.  “We were all strangers back then but have almost become like a family now,” the Oz Lotto winner said. Earlier this year a group of friends from Queensland, Australia won $444,985.88 in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw held on August 4.

The syndicate members put in $10 each to pay for their weekly Oz Lotto purchases, never dreaming one day they’d win the jackpot.  When they discovered they had won the Oz Lotto ticket the members couldn’t believe their good luck. “Some of us were literally jumping in excitement,” one member said. “It felt like a dream! Actually, it still does.” The recent $30m Australian Powerball winner from Tasmania, Australia, also found it hard to believe he’d become a multi-millionaire.

The members of the Oz Lotto syndicate have already got some plans on how to spend their winnings. Some are planning early retirement just as Ronald Lopez from California, USA, did after he won $10m playing the $10 Million Dazzler scratch card game. Carol Knipfel from Ontario, Canada, didn’t need to as her $1m Lotto Max win came on the day she retired.

Also planned is paying off mortgages while one syndicate member wants to help her daughter by paying for her university costs and added that their Oz Lotto win “just makes life a whole lot easier.” Canadian student Joshua Allison has no worries about paying college fees after he won $68,203.10 in the Lotto 6/49 lottery.

Their winning Oz Lotto ticket was purchased from Clark’s Newsagency in Albany. Their win is the second equal largest Oz Lotto win won in Western Australia this year. A couple from Perth in Western Australia won $1m in a Wednesday Lotto draw, their second million-dollar win in the space of two years.
