$2.2 million Saturday Lotto Winner Had No Idea He’d Won

Imagine going the whole weekend without knowing you’ve just become a millionaire? That’s what happened to a man from Abbotsford in Melbourne, Australia. He had no idea he’d won a $2.2 million Saturday Lotto prize.

While he didn’t know about his win, the fact his ticket had been registered meant the lottery organisers did know.

It was all a bit of a shock therefore when they called him with news of his $2.2 million Saturday Lotto win in the June 21 draw.

Numb

The lucky player broke down as he replied: “Oh my god. You have no idea how much this means to me.” The shocked winner added that he felt “numb,” was shaking and “can’t see anything through my tears.” A recent  $4.8 million Set for Life winner also shed happy tears.

The Saturday Lotto winner will use his windfall to look after his beloved family. “We’ve done it tough our entire lives and this changes everything,” he commented.  First to be helped will be his sister as the mortgage on her house will be paid off.

Tasmanian triumph

Also winning $2.2 million on June 21 was a married man from Launceston in Tasmania. His wife heard there was an unclaimed win and asked him if he’d bought a ticket for the draw. When he said yes, she recommended he check the ticket.

He was at work at the time so didn’t do that right away. Speaking to the lottery organisers, he admitted that “curiosity got the better of me.” He checked his ticket and received a “massive surprise.”

The delighted winner is not a fan of his “stressful job” so will quit that. He’ll still work but in a job “completely without the stress.”  Other plans include paying off his house and getting a new car.  A $1 million Weekday Windfall winner also bought a new vehicle.

He’ll also help his children and grandchildren. As for the rest of the Saturday Lotto win, he wants to “invest and lock a fair bit of it away.”
