Bumper Birthday Celebrations for £1 million Lottery Winner

It’s going to be an unforgettable 60th birthday for John Parker from Bishop Auckland in Co Durham, England. Just two months before the big day, he won a £1 million lottery prize in the July 8 draw.

He’s been busy for months planning the celebration at a local pub. “I always knew I wanted all my friends and family in one room to help me celebrate,” said John. The father-of-two’s lottery win means a much larger event will now be held.

“Couldn’t believe it”

The delighted player recalled the moment his £1 million win was discovered. An email had been received informing him of a win but not how much. Initially, he thought just £2.80 was in his account.

Then he looked again and spotted an additional £1 million. “I really couldn’t believe it and I just kept checking,” said the lottery winner. Another recent  £1 million UK Lotto winner is creating his own ‘man-cave.’

John let the news sink in for a little bit and then headed down to the pub. That didn’t exactly take him long as the nearest pub is virtually next door to his home. ”My excitement was still at fever pitch” and “I just walked in and shouted, ‘I’m a millionaire,’ before ordering my usual,” he added.

His friends didn’t believe him at first but that changed after being shown his lottery app. Next, he contacted his partner, Lisa Deal, 47 with the amazing news. “It all felt so surreal, as this sort of thing doesn't happen to people like us” the lottery winner commented.

Now the couple are planning a luxury holiday to Jamaica. While there, they will plan the best way to spend their lottery winnings and what future holidays to book. It’s the latest big win in Co Durham after  Toni Henderson won a £1 million UK Lotto prize.

“So many options”

John believes the lottery win gives the couple “so many options.” Possible ways to spend their windfall include making some property investments. That, he believes, will help “secure a better future for myself and my family,” said John.
