Disbelieving Player Wins $1.6 million Saturday Lotto Prize

Would you instantly believe that you’d really won a huge lottery prize? A man from Melbourne, Australia struggled to do so after discovering he’d won $1.6 million in the June 28 Saturday Lotto draw.

It was late at night when his amazing discovery was made. However, at first he believed the win was only $1,600.

He had to ask his wife to take a look and then she confirmed their ticket had in fact won a total of $1,629,922.69.  It’s the latest big win in Melbourne after a recent $2.2 million Saturday Lotto success.

A sleepless night followed but he still spent the time wondering “whether it was real or if I was just dreaming.”  It was all very true and he was one of four $1.6 million winners in that Saturday Lotto draw.  A Queensland player also couldn’t sleep after discovering their $1 million Weekday Windfall win.

He still went to work and as his ticket had been registered The Lott gave him a call to chat about his win.

Struggle

The Saturday Lotto winner admitted: “It’s been a struggle to stay focused in my meetings” and “It’s really still sinking in!”

He went on to state that he’s been having a tough time of late and said the win “will just help immensely.”

House deposits

Family is going to come first for the Saturday Lotto winner. The generous father says “I can help set them up with a house deposit. Then I’ll put the rest aside.”

His winning Saturday Lotto ticket was bought at Centreway News & Lotto in Keilor East. It's owned by Anj Bahl who was delighted when being told that was so. This is the first division one winning ticket the store has sold since the change in ownership took place in August 2023.

When finding that out,  Anj admitted that she “couldn’t stop reading it over and over again.” The winner has asked to remain anonymous but the store owner hopes it is one of their regulars who won.
