Email Reminder Leads to €1 million Lottery Win
A man from Wicklow in Ireland admits he doesn’t regularly play lottery games. He entered one on April 15 and won a €1 million prize.
His lottery win came in the Daily Millions draw and the lucky winner says it was an email he received that led to his success.
It was from the National Lottery and reminded him he still had a balance in his online account. He decided to enter the next lottery draw but joked that he didn’t think much about it.
Soon after the lottery draw, another email was received.. This time it was a winning notification but it wasn’t until later in the evening that he fully read the message.
Not a prank
That’s when he discovered his €1 million win. Not knowing what to do he called his partner who laughed and claimed he was pranking her. That led to him going back into his account to check the results and he really had won €1 million.
He now plans on using his winnings to pay off his mortgage. A family holiday in the sun is also on the horizon.
Family success
Also celebrating are a family syndicate of four players from North Dublin in Ireland. They won €500,000 in the EuroMillions Plus draw held on April 16.
One of the syndicate members had heard there had been a local win. He checked their ticket but at first believed their win was only €50,000. Another Irish family thought they’d won €100,000 on the Lotto but it was actually €2.2 million.
His daughter thought her father was “winding me up” when being told the fantastic news. Her belief was that bad news was on its way, not a €500,000 lottery win.
Then they had to ensure their winning ticket was kept safe. To do that, they took the ticket and hid it in their attic until claiming their prize.
Perhaps they’ll enter the EuroMIllions Superdraw that is taking place on June 6. Before that, there’s a draw tonight with the top prize being £106 million ( €124 million).
