“Europe Here We Come!” Say $4.8m Set for Life Winners

A lot can change when a big lottery win comes along. That’s perfectly illustrated by the story of a couple from Berkeley Vale in Australia. They’ve just won $20,000 a month for 20 years in the July 29 Set for Life draw.

Their ticket was the only division one winner so the New South Wales residents will receive a total of $4.8 million. It’s  the latest Set for Life jackpot win in the state.

The lucky couple have asked to remain anonymous but we do know they are grandparents who recently retired from their jobs.

“How long?”

They have been talking about their win when the lottery company phoned them. It wasn’t long before the tears began to flow. “Oh my god! We’ve won $20,000 a month for how long?!” said the female half of the couple. “You have no idea how much this will help us,” the Set for Life winner added.

“Completely gobsmacked”

It wasn’t all tears though. While the wife admits she was “bawling my eyes out,” she said her husband was laughing. They did share one emotion though. The Set for Life winner said: “We’re both completely gobsmacked.”

Her husband was actually driving a car when told the amazing news. That led to him driving slowly and causing a bit of a traffic jam with about 40 cars behind him. In the USA,  a near road-rage incident led to a $600,000 lottery win.

The win will greatly change their future plans. They had been getting ready to go on a few caravan trips now they've retired. “Forget that! Europe, here we come!” said the delighted Set for Life winner.

No wonder he declared: “Happy retirement to us!” The couple also plan to help their children and grandchildren.

Their winning ticket was purchased from Chittiway Newspower which is owned by Satinder Sharma. That is a great place to buy tickets as the weekend before they had sold a division one  winning ticket to a 12-strong syndicate making it 24 big wins in 35 years.
