‘Golden Ticket’ Wins €3,523,021 Irish Lotto Jackpot

Valentine’s Day 2024 wasn’t just a day of love for a family from Louth in Ireland. It was also the day that they went to Dublin to collect a €3,523,021 Irish Lotto prize.

The family syndicate purchased their winning ticket from Arthur’s XL shop in Dundalk. It certainly won them an XL prize.

They didn’t check their Irish Lotto ticket right away though. It was only when news broke of a jackpot winning ticket being purchased in Louth that they did so.

Not every player checks their tickets immediately. Another Irish player  took two months to discover his €263,058 Irish Lotto win.

Golden ticket

The spokesperson for this lottery syndicate explained: “We usually check our tickets when we have a few to check at a time but the day after the draw.”. When hearing of a local winner they thought to themselves ‘I might as well see,' and incredibly they’d won €3,523,021.

It was a massive shock and the spokesperson admitted: “Never in a million years did I think that it would turn out to be the golden ticket!”  

One eye open

Their head “was in a spin” when realising just how much had been won. The next job was to keep their Irish Lotto ticket safe. It was immediately signed but the worry was still there that “something might happen.” The lottery winner joked: “I think I’ve been sleeping with one eye open for the past few weeks!”

Nothing did happen to the ticket and they were finally able to claim their €3,523,02 Irish Lotto winnings.

The syndicate were thrilled to hand over the all-important ticket and finally see their cheque in person. Going to Dublin to collect their winnings had been on their mind ever since discovering their luck.

Now they are going to take some time deciding how to spend their Irish Lotto win. A new car is definitely on the way for their spokesperson. After that “we’ll see what comes next,” they said.
