How do you choose your lottery numbers?   Birthdays and anniversaries are popular but players in Thailand and the USA both used unlikely ways to get a winning selection.

Patthawikorn Boonin from Thailand won $60 by using numbers that were predicted by an Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot. The ChatGPT is an AI model that has been trained to chat on a number of different topics. It probably wasn’t expected to help players win lottery prizes but that’s the 21st century for you.

In fact, when you ask the ChatGPT to predict the future, it makes this reply: “As an AI, I cannot guess lottery numbers. They are randomly generated and no one can predict the outcome with certainty.”

Is this what the future will be like? 

Will we see more wins being predicted in this way? It’s unlikely apparently due to the fact that lottery numbers are drawn in a random way. Systems are in place to ensure that results are unpredictable. An AI simply cannot predict true randomness but who knows what they might be able to do in a few years time?

 If it was possible, more jackpot wins  could happen but the likelihood is there’d be lots of players sharing the wins and not winning a great deal of money.

This lucky winner says he found a solution to the problem and it paid off for him. He managed to get the ChatGPT to give him four pairs of two digits. He then used 57, 27, 29 and 99 hoping the numbers would make a profit for him. When the number 99 was selected, that’s just what happened in the Thai government lottery draw.

Scriptures success 

Belafonte Key from Virginia, USA, used numbers taken from the scriptures for his selection. The truck driver won $359,668 playing the Cash 5 draw earlier this month.

It’s taking a bit of time for him to get used to the fact he’s won so much money. “When I see those zeros in my account, that’s when I’ll believe it,” said the lucky lottery winner.
