New Selection Wins $1 million Weekday Windfall Prize

A change of numbers and advice from her husband led to a $1 million Weekday Windfall win. However, it also led to a sleepless night for the woman from Weipa in Queensland, Australia.

One win leads to another

The Saturday before this big win, the couple had a $98 win in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw. It was decided to use some of the winnings to play the Weekday Windfall draw.

The day before the draw was due to take place, she decided to ask her husband to choose five numbers, which he promptly did.  “Who would’ve thought those numbers would have landed us $1 million,” his wife commented. A change of numbers led to  a $50 million Australian Powerball jackpot win  last year.

It also meant a sleepless night as the win was discovered just before she went to bed. “I didn’t sleep a wink last night,” the tired but jubilant winner declared. Earlier this year,  a Queensland syndicate won a $70 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

Her husband still went to work despite the fantastic news. Plans for their win include paying off all their loans and be debt-free.

Awesome win

Also winning $1 million in the September 8 Weekday Windfall draw was a man from Hamilton in the state of Victoria.

He’d just returned from the school drop-off when receiving the life-changing phone call. After a quick but understandable expletive, the Weekday Windfall winner said: “That’s awesome! I’m getting cold shivers.”

He added that the win will help his family “immensely.”   Then he admitted that it was a good job the news came after his children had gone to school.  “They would’ve already been spending it,” the lucky player joked. They will be receiving “some nice presents” though.

A long-dreamed of overseas family holiday will now take place. Other spending plans include paying off their children’s school fees and the mortgage on the family home.

Speaking about the Weekday Windfall win, he commented: “It just allows you to do so much instead of working your guts out!”
