£3.6 million EuroMillions Win on Friday the 13th
It’s said that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. A EuroMillions syndicate from Bridgend in Wales will disagree with that view. They won a £3.6 million prize on June 13, each winning over £200,000.
The ‘West is Best Syndicate’ was formed by Rhian Owen. The name comes from the West Hub of Bridgend Council where the 44-year-old worked. Several members of the syndicate are her former work colleagues.
When Rhian left that job, she made a Facebook post asking for new syndicate members. The appeal attracted family members, friends and some people she’s never even met in person.
On June 14, an email was received informing her of a lottery win. “I didn’t think much of it,” admits the syndicate leader.
Complete shock
While on her way to work she finally checked her account and went into “complete shock.” Immediately, a video call was made to her sister and they “couldn’t stop screaming.”
Despite the great news, Sian still went to work, explaining “I didn’t know what else to do.” Concentrating wasn’t easy and the EuroMillions winner ended up going home early as she was “in a bit of a daze.” It was the same for a recent Australian who won a $1.6 million Saturday Lotto prize.
Back home, a memorable Facebook group chat followed as news of the EuroMillions win was spread. Plans for her winnings include house renovations and family holidays.
Perfect timing
Sometimes wins come along at just the right moment. Syndicate member Nicola Butler was worried as her husband had left his job that day. The EuroMillions win will help solve any financial worries.
Rhian’s sister, Tracey Harry is going to buy a campervan with her share of the EuroMillions win. It’s the latest big EuroMillions win in Wales after a recent £1 million success.
It was even better news for Rhian’s other sister Jayne Owen. As she played two lines, she doubled her windfall to over £400,000.
The next EuroMillions draw is tomorrow with an £84 million jackpot.
