Recovering Bowel Cancer Patient Wins £1 million EuroMillions Prize
After two years of treatment for bowel cancer, Paul Harvey from Attleborough in Norfolk, England has won a £1 million EuroMillions prize.
The east coast of England resident went a week before finding out about his win in the July 4 draw.
Off to Greece
51-year-old Paul is a single parent and some of his EuroMillions winnings will be used for a very special trip.
He’ll take his two teenage children to Greece for their first overseas holiday together. That’s a special part of Europe because when he was younger, he lived in Cyprus for 12 years.
The proud father said: “Life hasn't always been easy, but the kids mean the world to me, and they always come first." There’s an important task to carry out first, namely new passports.
His daughter is also going to be helped by her father’s EuroMillions win. He will buy a Fiat 500 for her. She’s got an important task ahead of her too as she’s yet to pass her driving test.
It wasn’t until a week after the EuroMillions draw that an email from the National Lottery prompted him to check his ticket.
Initially he thought it was a scam but after a Google search he knew for sure who was contacting him. The results were checked and the £1 million win was discovered. A Welsh player took four months to discover his £1 million win.
Jumping and hugging
He then had to wait for what “felt like forever” waiting for his children to return home from school When they did return, he filmed the moment the news of his EuroMillions win was broken. There was plenty of jumping around the kitchen with hugs aplenty.
The EuroMillions winner wants to take his time to ensure his winnings are used in the best way possible.
Tuesday’s EuroMillions draw ended in another rollover. The jackpot hasn’t been won since June 17 when an Irish family won €250 million on this transnational lottery.
The next draw is tonight and the top prize is a fantastic £172 million.
