Tearful Winner Claims Record $80 million Lotto Max Jackpot

Justin Simporios just couldn’t stop crying when claiming his record  $80 million Lotto Max jackpot. The Canadian from Surrey in British Columbia won his great prize in the May 9 draw.

The emotional winner is a 35-year-old married father and admitted “I just can’t help my tears.”  A recent $4.8 million Set for Life winner also couldn’t stop crying.

Record win

His Lotto Max win is the largest ever jackpot that an individual player has ever won in Canadian lottery history.

The lucky player doesn’t regularly try his luck on lottery draws, only playing when the jackpot is at least $40 million.

He checked the results at 10.30pm after not seeing the draw live. After seeing that a ticket sold in Surrey had won the jackpot, he joked to his wife that they were millionaires. That didn’t get a good response as she was more worried about their sick daughter.

He finally got around to checking his Lotto Max ticket and discovered it had won the jackpot. His wife was again not very pleased when he said they were millionaires but eventually she realised he was telling the truth.

Keep the ticket safe

Justin was worried about what to do next and asked ChatGPT for advice/  It told him to sign the ticket and keep it safe. There are  several ways in which to keep a winning ticket safe.  This player put his winning ticket inside a zip-lock bag.

That was put into a pillowcase and then that was wrapped up in a blanket. He then kept it with him all the time, even when attending church.

Speaking about his Lotto Max win, he said: “I’ve struggled before and needed help. “Even if I can give an ounce of happiness, I want to help where we can.”

The Lotto Max winning couple are planning to buy their dream home. They’ll stay in Surrey which he describes as “my lucky city.” He will also help his mother to retire, help his local community and ensure his sister’s student loan for medical school is paid.
