Three Month Search for $50,000 Winning Powerball Ticket

Mark Perdue from Bowling Green in Kentucky, USA hadn’t checked his lottery tickets and had no idea if they were winners. Then he went to the AM convenience store and one of the employees told him he’d won $50,000 on the Powerball. The problem then was finding the winning ticket.

It was November of last year when he was told about his Powerball lottery win but it wasn’t until last month the prize was claimed.

For what?

He and his wife were out shopping and went to the store where the Powerball ticket had been bough. Mr Perdue was shocked when the store employee offered them her congratulations. “For what?” was his immediate reply. Then came the surprising news of his lottery win. Totally surprised by the news he replied: “I wish.” CCTV footage of him and his wife buying the Powerball winning ticket was shown to the shocked winner.

But where was the winning but unchecked lottery ticket?  After completing their shopping the couple rushed back home to begin the search.  A player from Iowa  was also temporarily separated from his winning $500,000 scratchcard.

They looked everywhere for the Powerball ticket but with no luck. For three months Mrs Perdue was convinced she’d thrown the $50,000 winning lottery ticket away.

Finally

It wasn’t until last month that the ticket was found but not in their home. Mr Perdue has his job to thank for finding the winning lottery ticket. He’s the president of Kiriu UFA who supply brake rotors for cars.

One day someone needed to use one of the company cars that were kept in storage until needed to be used.

The lottery winner had used one of them a few months previously. He went to it and inside the car just happened to be the $50,000 Powerball winning ticket. “I don’t know how long it might have sat out there if I hadn’t needed the car,” said the relieved winner.

The following day they claimed their winnings, receiving $36,000 after payment of taxes. They plan to take a holiday and pay off their bills.
