Two Galway Lottery Players Win Over €500,000

July was a great month for two Irish lottery players. They both had big wins with one scooping a fantastic €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 prize.

That lucky player came from Galway and his big win came in the draw held on July 16. His ticket had been purchased from a Circle K store in the city.

The last thing you want to do with a winning lottery ticket is lose it.  That’s what happened to a Scottish couple.

Safest place

Desperate not to lose his winnings, this player turned up at National Lottery HQ with his ticket still in a ziplock sandwich bag.  The lottery winner joked that the bag was “the safest place for it.”

The lucky player was doing some “life admin” in his kitchen when seeing on the news that there had been a big local lottery win. It just happened to be at the store where he had bought his ticket, so decided to check it.  “I danced around the kitchen when I realised I had won,” recalled the delighted winner.

Plans for his winnings include travelling around the world for some dream holidays. He also wants to buy his own home.

Just three days after his great win, another Galway resident was celebrating. They won €314,859 playing the Irish Lotto.

Not every winner finds out about their success while watching the draw as it happened. An Australian player  went a whole weekend without knowing he’d won a $2.2 million Saturday Lotto prize.

Seeing things

This player actually watched the lottery draw when it was broadcast live on television. “I couldn’t believe my eyes as each number matched – I thought I was seeing things!” recalled the lucky winner.

A “sun holiday” is on its way and the lottery winner will also share some of their winnings with family members.

A successful July ended with a ticket sold in Dundalk, Ireland winning a €500,000 EuroMillions prize. Perhaps more wins will come on Friday when the EuroMillions draw has a €198 million (£172 million)  jackpot.
