When Will the €250 million (£208 million) EuroMillions Jackpot Be Won?

The EuroMillions jackpot rolled over again last Friday. Tomorrow will again see players attempting to win the €250 million (£208 million) top prize. Will it be a ticket purchased from Lottery24 that wins this record-equalling amount?

Without needing to look into a crystal ball, we can predict that this will be the last week with this massive jackpot.

That’s because only five draws can take place once the jackpot cap has been reached. If tomorrow’s draw doesn’t produce a winner, then we are in for something really special on Friday.

Must-be-won draw?

For only the second time in EuroMillions history, we will have a must-be-won draw held. The only time that has happened in the past was way back in September 2008. What happens in such a draw?

Well, if no ticket can match the five main balls and two Lucky Stars, the entire prize rolls down to the next tier. That’s what happened 17 years ago.

There were 15 players who matched the five main balls but only one Lucky Star who shared the €130 million (£102.8 million).  Could that happen again this week?

Big winners

Friday’s draw didn’t see the jackpot won but there were seven second-tier winners. It was certainly a good draw for those in the UK. Five tickets sold there each won £3.6 million.

Two other tickets purchased in Austria (they do love these big draws) and Spain both won €4,493,785.76.

Only once before has the €250 million jackpot cap been reached in the past. That was in March of this year and the next draw saw  a EuroMillions ticket purchased in Austria win that amazing total.

How successful has June been for playing the EuroMillions lottery? Last year, we saw  a ticket that had been purchased in Portugal win a €213 million jackpot.

Once the jackpot is finally won, it might not be long before another massive top prize. A EuroMillions Superdraw might be only a couple of months away. June’s planned Superdraw was postponed due to the fact the current jackpot was over €130 million.
