Will the November Mega Millions Curse Be Broken Tonight?

Not since June has the Mega Millions jackpot been won. Tonight’s draw has an $800 million jackpot but will we see the November curse broken?

The penultimate month of the year is not a hugely successful one for players hoping to win the Mega Millions jackpot. Not since 2016 has November seen the top prize won in this lottery.

On that occasion, it was a ticket sold in Georgia that was able to land an $83 million Mega Millions jackpot. It’s certainly about time that we saw the top prize won in November. It’d be great if it was a ticket bought from Lottery24 that was the jackpot winner.

It was back in 2002 that the Mega Millions lottery was launched. The first six November’s in which the draw was held all produced a winner with eight in total.

Record draw

November may seem to have a curse on it in recent years but it does hold an important Mega Millions record. In 2005, a $315 million jackpot was won in November and was shared by a record seven tickets.

If we do finally see the Mega Millions jackpot won this month, it will be the largest ever seen in the 11th month of the year. The current largest November jackpot win came in 2014 when Harold Diamond from New York won $326 million. At present, the jackpot is over twice that amount.

Four wins

2025 has seen the Mega Millions top prize won just four times with the largest win being $349 million.. Last year also saw just four jackpot wins.

It was on June 27 that the top prize was last won. There were  celebrations in Virginia after a ticket sold there landed a $348 million top prize.

April of this year saw changes made to the Mega Millions draw. The aim was to see larger jackpots being available and that’s certainly what is happening now.

Lottery officials said that an average jackpot won will be $800 million. Lo and behold, that’s exactly how much will be up for grabs in tonight’s draw.
