ANOTHER EUROMILLIONS WIN BITES THE DUSTWith huge highs come huge lows, and the same can be said for the lottery. The highs occur every week with players taking home small, medium and colossal sized lotto prizes on EuroMillions. This happens every Tuesday and Friday. Some bag the lottery jackpot by matching all six numbers, some become instant millionaires through the Millionaire Raffle, and some pocket just enough to pay for their next EuroMillions ticket.Fortunately the lows don’t occur as often, but when they do they see large fortunes going unclaimed. The latest unclaimed prize amounts to £216,033.10 and belongs to a lottery winner in County Down. Or rather did belong, as it’s now in the hands of the National Lottery Good Causes Fund. The owner of the EuroMillions ticket, which was purchased for the 12th October 2012 draw, failed to claim their lotto winnings before the claim deadline expired. That was on 10th April.A spokesperson for the National Lottery said: “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize, and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money. To avoid this unfortunate situation happening again, I would urge all National Lottery players to check their tickets on a regular basis. We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it’s a real shame that they have missed out, but there is still one winner – the nation. This money, and all the interest earned over the 180 days, will now go to The National Lottery Good Causes – adding to the £29 billion already raised and distributed to over 400,000 individual awards that have benefitted people, communities and projects across the UK.”You know what to do in future... check your EuroMillions tickets before you throw them away.
