Canadian Lottery Celebrations Galore

Lottery players in Canada have been talking about their recent successes, including one who decided to try their luck on a different game.

Empty mind

Jung-Chien Cheng from Richmond in Ontario, Canada was checking the results of the September 5 Lotto Max draw and discovered he’d won $1 million. Rather than going crazy, he admits: “My mind was empty for a few seconds.”

Then he thought to himself: “This is good, this is great.” Earlier this year,  Mohit Sharma from Ontario won a $65 million Lotto Max jackpot.

Immediately, he contacted his son to tell him the great news. He replied by telling his father that he wanted to “buy Minecraft.”  Mr Cheng says he plans to pay off his mortgage. “I feel excited. I can breathe easier," said the lottery winner.

Early retirement

Also celebrating a big lottery win is Carla Martin from Mission in British Columbia, Canada. The lucky player won a $675,000 Set for Life prize.

The win means that Carla will be able to retire earlier than planned. One big plan she has is to go to Italy to visit her father’s hometown.

New game

Khemraj and Loretta Persaud from Scarborough in Ontario, Canada have been playing lottery games for the past decade. Their patience has paid off with a $50,000 win. Denise Bérubé  played for 30 years before her Lotto 649 $5 million win.

They decided to play the Daily Keno game for a change. That proved to be a great decision to make.

Loretta put the ticket in her purse and then promptly forgot about it. It was finally checked a few days later.

The lottery player said she “froze with shock” when finding out it’d won $50,000. “My heart started racing, and my hands began to shake,” she added.

Plans for their lottery winnings include building a dream house to live in during their retirement. Speaking about their win, Loretta said: “If it can happen to us, it can happen to anyone.”  Perhaps it might be you celebrating a big win this weekend.
