Champagne and Weddings for Postcode Lottery Winners

Tony Anderson from Buckhurst Hill in Essex, England was in a supermarket when his phone rang. It was his partner telling him he’d won a Postcode Lottery prize. At that stage he had no idea he’d won a fantastic £500,000.

The retired cleaner was going to buy a bottle of the flavoured gin that he and Tracey adore. After being given the news, he was going up and down the aisle declaring: “I’ve won the Postcode Lottery, I’ve won the Postcode Lottery.”

Double purchase

Now he’s looking forward to going down another aisle with an upcoming marriage. The win was £500,000 as he had two tickets. The Postcode Lottery winner explained that having two tickets was down to his partner. “She’s my twin. Whatever I do, I do twice,” he said.

That gin may have been purchased but the delighted couple were going to be celebrating with champagne after their big win.

Other plans for the winnings include buying a caravan, possibly in Clacton. That’s just  what £333,333 Postcode Lottery winner Tom Canning is planning to do.  Perhaps they could all meet up for a chat. Family members will be helped and most of the windfall banked.

Homeless charity worker Tracey commented: “This is the first time I’ve won anything apart from something at the school fete when I was seven.”  A recent  $31.14 million Australian Powerball winner said their previous best win had been an Easter chocolate basket.

Wedding upgrade

Winning £250,000 was Chris Cordle and he explained how the win nearly didn’t happen at all. His fiancé Libby Coates had tried to get him to stop playing and put the money towards their wedding which is due to take place at the end of this month.

Chris decided to keep playing, though he continued to use a postcode from a former address having moved four times in two years.

Just like Tony and Tracey, this couple were also looking forward to a champagne celebration. Now more will be spent on their wedding with more food and drink and a band
