Mother’s Birthday Helps Win £20 million Lottery Jackpot

There are so many different ways to choose your lottery numbers. Anikumar Bolla, an  Indian man who lives in the United Arab Emirates used his mother’s birthday and won Dh 100 million (just over £20 million).

The 29-year-old won his big prize in the 23rd Lucky Day Draw held on October 18.  He recalled just how his win was discovered. “I was in shock. I was sitting on the sofa, and I’m just feeling that, yes, I won it.”

A player who won half of a $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot  said he’d made a mistake when making his selection.

Now he has a big decision to make on how to spend his fantastic lottery winnings. “I need to invest this amount, spend it in the right way.”  He added:  “I need to work on my thoughts in the right way, and I want to do something big.”

There will be some treats as he wants to buy a supercar and go to a luxury hotel to celebrate. Bringing his family to the UAE is also a special ambition.

He also wants to make some charitable donations.  A $150,000 Powerball winner donated all of her winnings  to charity.

His advice to other lottery players is:  “I believe that everything happens for a reason. I suggest each and every player to keep playing, and for sure, one day luck will come to you."

Also winning a big prize was John Murphy from Washington D.C. in America, He won a $50,000 Pick 5 prize thanks to his mobile phone and a car.

The lucky player was about to buy a ticket for the October 17 Maryland Pick 5 draw when seeing a car with a license plate including 43871. That made him think because his mobile phone begins with the numbers 438.

He included those numbers in his winning selection. He’s not sure how to spend his lottery windfall. He and his wife Zina love to go travelling so a few trips are likely to be planned.
