Rainy Day Purchase Wins €7.2 million Eurodreams Jackpot

A rainy day led to a woman from Wicklow in Ireland winning a huge lottery prize. The lucky player will receive €20,000 a month for the next 30 years (€7.2 million)  thanks to her Eurodreams win on September 8.

It was tipping it down and that was making the woman miserable. Then she began to dream of what life would be like if she won the lottery even though she only plays “now and again.”. “A big win would certainly brighten up my day so I got the phone out and bought a ticket,” said the delighted player.

Once back in the dry, she totally forgot about purchasing her Eurodreams ticket. It wasn’t until the day after the draw that her win was discovered while in a meeting at work. 

Her husband sent her a text saying that someone had won the top prize. Remembering her purchase and being “curious”, the ticket was checked and amazingly she was the lucky winner.

“Shock of my life”

“It was a good thing that no one saw my reaction as I got the shock of my life,” said the shocked player. Usually her wins have only been small amounts such as €5 or €10. 

This time her app revealed she’d won the top prize of €20,000 per month for 30 years but was she seeing things?  An Australian couple struggled to believe their $7.5 million Oz Lotto win.

There was still the small matter of the work meeting. “It really could not have ended quick enough,” she joked. Somehow she got through it and then raced home to get her husband to double check the ticket. 

“We were both just staring at the screen and then went into celebration mode,” she added. An Irish syndicate  initially thought their €255,000 EuroMillions win was only €5,000.

Emotional return

Plans for her winnings include an emotional return to where they spent their honeymoon. The Eurodreams winner said the spending list will grow but at present, “we are just so excited to start planning.”
