Suspected Prank Turns Out to be $1m Weekday Windfall Win
A male lottery player from Campbelltown in New South Wales, Australia is celebrating winning $1 million in the October 3 Weekday Windfall draw. However, it took a while for him to find out he’d won.
He received a text asking him to check his ticket but believed it to be a prank. Later he checked his Weekday Windfall ticket at a local newsagency and his big win was discovered.
“Blessed”
He was called by the lottery company later that day and just couldn’t stop saying: “Thank you.” He added: “I feel blessed. I never win anything, so you have no idea how I feel right now.” It’s the latest $1 million Weekday Windfall win in the state.
The Weekday Windfall winner has asked to remain anonymous. We do know that he’s a married man with children and is a regular lottery player. His winnings will be used to provide a secure future for his family.
Icing the cake
Just five days later, a grandmother who lives in Broadbeach on the Australian Gold Coast also won $1 million. It was her husband who found out that her Weekday Windfall ticket had won a massive prize.
At the time his wife was icing a cake in their kitchen. Then she heard her husband screaming and yelling. Recalling that moment, she said: “I thought he was having a heart attack! I didn’t know what was going on.”
The Weekday Windfall winner added: “You can’t even imagine the noises that came out of my husband’s mouth; he was really carrying on. It was hilarious!”
It was nothing as bad as a heart attack though and he eventually explained what was going on. His wife didn’t get any sleep as she was expecting an email from the lottery company. One lucky player won a $1 million Weekday Windfall prize with their first ticket.
In 2022, she made a list entitled ‘If I won Lotto’ and put praying hands next to it. Plans for her winnings include buying two cars, house renovations and going on a cruise to Japan.
