UK National Lottery Website to be Down Next Weekend

If you live in the UK and want to buy lottery tickets this weekend, this site is going to become even more important to you.

When  Allwyn took over running the National Lottery last year,  they pledged to introduce new games and to improve the experience players have.

As part of achieving this aim, from 11pm on August 2 to late Monday August 4, their site will be undergoing a major upgrade. The first time that’s happened in 16 years.

As a result, UK players will not be able to purchase tickets for lottery draws in-store. The National Lottery website will also not be available.

Meanwhile, Ireland has continued to celebrate the recent €250 million EuroMillions win that took place last month.

The winning ticket was sold at Clifford’s Centra in Cork and was purchased by a family syndicate.

One memorable comment that was made by them after claiming their win was that despite their massive win, they will continue to enjoy their daily ham and cheese sambos. That led to a very special event taking place on July 22.

The store that sold the winning EuroMillions ticket made free cheese and ham sambos available.  The celebration was held in association with the National Lottery.  

Darragh O’Dwyer is a National Lottery spokesperson and said that they “loved celebrating the  historic EuroMillions win with the people of Cork.” He added that it was a pleasure “to team up with Clifford’s to invite locals to lunch like a millionaire.”

Riding high

Clifford’s Centra store manager Simon Champ said that they had “been riding high on the excitement from the recent EuroMillions win.” The store manager added that they had “jumped on the idea” of holding the special celebration and it was a “great way to continue the celebrations here on Shandon Street.”

Tomorrow’s EuroMillions draw has a fantastic £131 million jackpot.
