What Do £1 million EuroMillions Winners Name Their Hens?

When Graeme and Katherine White won a £1 million EuroMillions prize, they were police officers. A year later, the Cambridgeshire couple are now busy looking after their strangely named animals after moving to the countryside.

They have taken a sabbatical from their jobs since their big win. Katherine says not having to work shifts has been the “icing on the cake” of  a “crazy year.”

Her husband says: “This is our little slice of heaven, somewhere we can raise our family and build wonderful memories.”

Most lottery winners look forward to enjoying holidays in glamorous locations. However, Katherine is delighted at now being able to have “a chippy tea and a play on the beach” at nearby Hunstanton.

Charlotte Pearl from Cambridgeshire also won a £1 million EuroMillions prize.

Great names

They are currently living their dream of moving to the countryside. Among their livestock are two hens. Their brilliant names are ‘Euro’ and ‘Million.’

As well as the hens, they also have a new labrador puppy but plans to give the dog a lottery-themed name such as ‘Lottie’ or ‘Millie’ didn’t materialise. Their two young children had the final say so the puppy is called Rusty.

More chickens may be purchased in the future, ‘Lucky’ perhaps or ‘Star’? A more extensive vegetable garden is also being planned to help them achieve their dream of becoming “as self-sufficient as possible.”

Recalling the day they won,  Mr White, 36, said he thought it’d be a small win that would “pay for a lunchtime meal deal at work tomorrow.” Then he looked on the app and discovered their £1 million win.

It took a while for him to believe what had happened.  That’s just like a recent $1.6 million Saturday Lotto winner.

Upgrade

When a big win comes along, you can enjoy some upgrades. For this couple, it began with having a coffee at Nero’s rather than their usual Greggs.

The EuroMillions winners say the win has given their lives “breathing space both physically and financially.”

Friday’s EuroMillions draw has a £119 million jackpot.
