A €458,316 EuroMillions win has come just at the right time for a family from County Cork in Ireland. They are the latest big winners in Ireland after Seamus Cawley won €388,375 playing the Irish Lotto last year.

The family, who wish to remain anonymous, won their prize in the January 15 EuroMillions draw matching the five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars. The lucky winners are regular EuroMillions players and purchased their Quick Pick ticket from Al’s Restaurant in Middleton on the day of the draw.

The husband said he’s “always been quite lucky.” 12 years ago he won around €1,200 on the Irish Lotto and said one day he’d win big again. He’s had some recent EuroMillions wins but says he hasn’t been able to sleep since discovering this windfall.

It was on Saturday evening that he checked his numbers online and couldn’t believe his eyes. He rang his parents asking them to double check but they initially thought he was joking just like the daughter of the recent £33m UK Lotto jackpot winners.

Then what the winner describes as “total hysteria” broke out when they realized he was being totally serious The win really came at a perfect time because the EuroMillions winner told how he was down to his last €30 on Thursday night and was worried about how his family was going to get through the next few weeks. Those worries are really in the past now. Last month an Irish syndicate won a €150,000 EuroMillions prize and one of its members told how he was down to his last €5.

The family are planning a big celebration and then a family holiday in Spain for plenty of sun, sea and golf. Perhaps while they’re in Spain they could meet some of the recent El Niño winners. The life-changing win will also allow them to buy their family home and be mortgage free. That’s just what a Canadian couple did after their $1m Lotto Max win. The jubilant winner concluded, “It will set us up for life – our dreams have come true.”
