We don’t all go into work with a huge smile on our face. A woman from Dublin’s Northside in Ireland did, but then again she had just won €500,000 in the EuroMillions draw held on Friday February 12.
The lucky winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning ticket from the Reynold Store in Dublin. She purchased a ticket that covered both the Friday February 12 and Tuesday February 16 EuroMillions draws. Her win came from numbers she chose herself.
She’s a regular EuroMillions player having been buying tickets since it began in 2004. There have been some wins in the past but she said this is “by far my biggest win to date.”
The EuroMillions winner was at home on Friday evening when she received an update email giving her the winning numbers. When she checked and realized she’d won €500,000 she couldn’t believe her eyes. She got her father to check the results and he had a similar reaction.
The winner wants to keep her win private though and said “Only my family know and that’s the way I want to keep it.” When she returned to work she had that huge smile on her face and admits it continued for a while but didn’t reveal why she was so happy.
It’s the latest big lottery win in Ireland. Recently a €13.7m Irish Lotto jackpot was won in Co Mayo. Last year an Irish syndicate won a €150,000 EuroMillions prize.
Now she plans on using her EuroMillions winnings to do “a bit of foreign travel.” Scottish winners David and Donna Hendry went to Graceland in the USA after their £4m UK Lotto success.
Also planned are some treats for her family and herself and some charitable donations. That’s like Roy Cockrun Jr who has helped several charities since his $259.8m Powerball win. Tom Crist from Canada did the same after his $40m Lotto Max jackpot win.
The jubilant winner commented, “I’m a firm believer in what comes around goes around, and I’m more than happy to help, now that I can.”
