Just halfway through the year and 17 Kiwis are already millionaires with NZ Lotto

We are only just halfway through 2016, and it has been revealed that 17 New Zealand Lottery players have already become millionaire’s thanks to a little bit of luck.Since the New Zealand Lotto began in 1987, more than 750 Kiwis have earned themselves millionaire status thanks to their Lotto numbers, and in the first six months of this year another 17 lottery players joined them. This includes 13 players of the New Zealand Lotto and four lucky winners of the New Zealand Powerball game.A report of the country’s biggest winners so far this year has revealed that 64% of New Zealand’s lottery millionaires reside on the North Island of the country, while the biggest win so far was a couple from Ashburton on the Mainland, who took home $22.2 million on the Powerball lottery in April. And while most New Zealand Lotto winners remain anonymous, the report also showed that there are just a few more male winners of millionaire jackpots this year at 56%, like a NZ Lotto winner from Wainuiomata who took home $1 million in April, and over 44% are women. There were also 61% married couples in the six month winners list, plus 71% of winners who had children, and were planning to make their family a priority when they spent their money, including a syndicate of family members from Timaru who won $7 million on the NZ Powerball in January. The report also found that 66% of winners keep their tickets tucked somewhere safe, like in their wallet or a coat pocket, however some people do choose to keep their tickets in odd places, such as in the door of their car, like a couple from Auckland did last week when they won $1 million on the New Zealand Lotto.Other strange places have included inside a backpack, like a winner from Invercargill kept his $1 million winning New Zealand Lotto ticket when he won in March, and this trend was ever present last year, when a couple from Dunedin hid their $1 million winning New Zealand Lotto ticket in an empty cake tin.The final finding in the report showed that most New Zealand Lotto winners choose to fill up their stomach when they win big, and they go to their favourite restaurants to do just that. However, a spokesperson for Lotto NZ made sure to add to all Kiwis that there is no clear profile of what a lottery millionaire looks like, every player has the same chance of becoming one.Don’t miss any opportunity to become a lottery winner and play online with us at Lottery24.com.
