Canberra Winner Discovers $3.3m Oz Lotto Win While on Lunch Break

A public servant from Canberra in Australia popped into a store to see how her Oz Lotto ticket had got on and found out she’d won the $3.3m jackpot from the April 18 draw.

The lucky Oz Lotto winner has asked to remain anonymous, that’s just like the $701,962 Australian Lotto winner from Western Australia.

She was on her lunch break when deciding to check her Oz Lotto ticket and buy another one for the next draw. Then she discovered that she had scooped the $3.3m jackpot from Tuesday’s draw. “It’s been a pretty rewarding lunchbreak! I think I need to pinch myself”, said the shocked Oz Lotto winner. Last year another player in Canberra won $1m in the Monday Oz Lotto.

Now the Oz Lotto winner plans to use her $3.3m winnings to retire early. Recently we told you how a $4m Australian Lotto winner was told by his boss to immediately quit his job.

“I’ve got family members I want to help and I look forward to breaking the news to them – not that they’re going to get all of it”, she joked.

“I might retire early too. Travel is also certainly on the cards. I might go travelling and keep going until Christmas”, added the jubilant Oz Lotto winner. Perhaps she’ll bump into Matt Myles who is on an around-the-world tour after his £1m EuroMillions win. In Canada, Angela Frazer said she’d go travelling to Europe after a $100,000 Instant Neon 5x scratchcard win.

The jackpot winning Oz Lotto ticket was purchased from Thistle Kiosk at Westfield Woden. The winning numbers in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto draw were: 13-29-33-39-42-44.The supplementary numbers were 15 and 31.

It appears the Thistle Kiosk is a lucky place to buy Oz Lotto tickets. Owner Tania Dezman said¨: “We’re a very lucky store, we’ve had a number of division one wins in recent years.” Tania added that the store had been busy with customers coming in to check their tickets to see if they were the $3,3m Oz Lotto winner. Dezman confirmed that the winner was one of her regular customers. Jorge Matamoros from Maryland, USA, had two big 20x The Cash wins both bought from the same store.

The new Canberra millionaire was one of three division one winners on April 18, with another in the Northern Territory and a third in New South Wales.
