A factory worker from Cork won a €257,084 EuroMillions prize in the August 4 draw. He collected his cheque but didn’t have time to celebrate and straight afterwards, despite his windfall he went back to work.

The delighted winner has asked to remain anonymous, that’s just like the couple from Queensland in Australia who won a $1m Gold Lotto prize. The sports-loving lottery player bought his winning EuroMillions ticket from the Easons’s store in the Wilton Shopping Centre. The winning numbers in that draw were 29-30-36-40-41 and the two Lucky Stars 02 and 09. If he’d managed to get the other Lucky Star he’d have won the 25m pounds jackpot.

The factory worker had to swap shifts so he could catch the train and head to Dublin to collect his EuroMillions winnings at Lotto HQ in Dublin. He didn’t hang around though, even though he had plenty of reasons to celebrate, as he had to get back home in time for work. Karl Krumbholz from Iowa, USA, went back to work after his $2m Powerball win. Ronnie Rader from Indiana, USA finished off his work before claiming his $50,000 Powerball prize. In England, Gerry and Lisa Cannings didn’t claim their £32.5m UK Lotto jackpot until their house had been decorated.

The €257,084 EuroMillions winner says he has his “feet firmly on the ground, even if the win hasn’t quite sunk in yet.” He added,” I always have – I have the same friends now that I had in school and lead a modest life, so there’s no chance the money will change me.” That’s just what the recent €9,485,078 Irish Lotto winner said.

“I asked my sister to come up with me this morning on the train“, said the EuroMillions winner. “I knew it would be an early start but she was only too willing! We have to dash now to Heuston Station to catch our return train as my shift starts at four this afternoon!”

The EuroMillions winner says he’ll only share details of his big win with his mother and three siblings. He plans to use some of his winnings to buy his own house. Also planned for the sports-lover is getting a new set of golf clubs. His sister has said he should buy a racehorse but “That’s certainly not going to happen,” he joked.
