Numbers Used for 23 Years win $1m Oz Lotto Jackpot

Sometimes using a set of numbers can be used for years before a big win comes along. A patient woman from Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia waited 23 years before a recent $1 million Oz Lotto win.

Her luck finally came in on April 19 and it proved to be an emotional and tiring evening. There was no long wait to find out if she’d been a winner. The Oz Lotto winner, who has asked to remain anonymous, checked her numbers soon after the draw.

High Emotions

Amazingly, she discovered her $1 million Oz Lotto win. “I couldn’t sleep after that. I think I was a little bit shocked,” said the lucky winner. “My emotions were so high,” she added.

The following morning, a rather tired winner contacted the Lott to confirm her success. She told the lottery official, “it feels so strange,” and added how it was so hard for her to keep cool about becoming an Oz Lotto millionaire.

The delighted winner, who is retired, then told how she’d been using the same numbers for 23 years. She actually has the original ticket that was purchased using her eventually lucky numbers.

Persistence pays off

Now those numbers have finally come good for her. “I was persistent in using the same numbers all this time,” she said and that’s a bit o an understatement. Those lucky numbers aren’t going to be retired though and will be used for future draws.

The winning numbers in the April 19 draw were: 01-05-12-18-29-44 and the supplementary numbers 17 and 39. Her ticket was the only Division One winner in that draw.

Some plans on how to use her Oz Lotto winnings have already been made. Well, she did have a sleepless night, so plenty of time to think. Paying off the mortgage on her house and then making some improvements is top of her list.

Sharing the winnings with her children is also important to her. Her general view of her Oz Lotto win is that it “will be a huge help.”
