$24 million Winning NZ Powerball Ticket Kept in Pantry

Where do you keep your lottery tickets? A man from New Plymouth in New Zealand kept a $24 million winning NZ Powerball ticket in his pantry but had no idea the jackpot had been won on November 26.

The very lucky winner is a regular lottery player. His ticket had been purchased while out doing some errands..

He may be a regular player but he didn’t watch the draw live or see news of the jackpot win. It wasn’t until four days after the draw that he made an amazing discovery.

He was getting his breakfast ready and looked to see what was in his pantry. Little did he know that a $24 million winning NZ Powerball was the tastiest delight in there. He decided it was finally time to check his ticket.

The soon-to-be-millionaire saw he had matched three numbers but that wasn’t all.  “I saw I had all the numbers… and then the Powerball number five jumped out at me,” recalled the shocked player.

Not entirely convinced of his NZ Powerball win, he went to a local Lotto store for confirmation. He saw that the next draw had a $4 million jackpot, so knew the $24 million top prize had been won. That’s when “it started to feel real.”

Soon his NZ Powerball win was confirmed and the paperwork associated with a big win began. He was struggling to believe his win. “the odds are so low, I kept thinking, how jammy is that.”

He decided to celebrate by having  “a spicy takeaway and a couple of beers.” While he was going around town, he began to realise his life had changed forever. He saw big houses and luxury cars and thought to himself how he could now afford them. “Everything was suddenly possible, and my mind was in overdrive. 

Not that he considers himself “the kind of person to want extravagant things” but the thought was a pleasant one. Plans for his  windfall include plenty of travel and  buying some land and property.
