A mystery lottery player in South Australia has won the national lottery jackpot worth $15 million, but whoever the winner is they have not yet claimed their prize.
The winning ticket matched all of the drawn numbers in Tuesday evening’s Oz Lotto draw, and it was purchased at a Paralowie Village Lotteries store near Adelaide. However, the ticket was not registered and therefore lottery officials have not been able to contact the winner to let them know of their fortune.
In most cases, the winner of a huge jackpot such as this one will receive a wakeup call from the lottery headquarters informing them of their success, but the South Australia Lottery governing body has not been able to do so. The winning numbers in the Oz Lotto draw were 4, 26, 3, 12, 2, 17 and 32.
The $15 million jackpot is the largest lottery amount won in South Australia so far this year, and the previous record for 2014 was only $5 million. That jackpot was won on the Oz Lotto on June 10th 2014 and was won by a man from Yorke Peninsula, who had been doubly lucky having recently recovered from a heart attack.
Lottery officials are hoping that the OZ Lotto winner is aware of his or her windfall despite not having the experience of a phone call to inform them, and a representative from Tatts Lotteries told the Australian press that “we’re hoping the unregistered winner checks their ticket and comes forward to claim their $15 million prize as soon as possible.”
While we wait for this winner to come forward, another lottery prize is still unclaimed in South Australia despite the draw taking place more than four months ago. This prize is worth almost $600,000 and was won on the X Lotto on April 5th. Those winning numbers were 24, 29, 22, 39, 36, 1 and the supplementary numbers 45 and 6.
Lottery players in the state should check all of their old tickets in case it turns out they have been sitting on a fortune without even knowing it!
