Two ticket holders both won €500,000 in the EuroMillions draw held on Tuesday February 24. One of the winners had just changed their numbers and this was just the second draw he had used them in. Both of the EuroMillions winners have decided to remain anonymous but we do know they are both male and come from Westmeath and Tallaght in Ireland.
Both players claimed their EuroMillions winnings from the Irish National Lottery Headquarters on Thursday February 26.
The Westmeath EuroMillions winner is a regular player and has been using his winning numbers for several years. “I just picked them randomly and can’t believe they’ve been so lucky for me. I’ve won a few Euro but never anything like this. I was listening to Midlands Radio and the Lottery person said I’d won the full half million. I couldn’t believe it!”
The lucky EuroMillions winner purchased his winning ticket from William and Anne Penrose’s store on the main street in Ballynacargy. He hasn’t worked out how he is going to spend his EuroMillions winnings and just wants the great news to sink in before making any important decisions.
Also winning half a million Euros is a pensioner from Tallaght, Dublin. He discovered his EuroMillions win the day after the draw had taken place. “I went up to the shop to get the paper and asked for a print out of the EuroMillions results. I sat down and looked at the numbers. I thought, this couldn’t be right! I checked them over the over. He’s feeling – well, it’s just marvellous,” he said.
The lucky EuroMillions lottery winner purchased his winning ticket from Tom Stanley Newsagents in The Square Shopping Centre in Tallaght, Dublin 24 on the day of the draw. “The funny thing is,” he said “I’d just changed my numbers. It was only the second time I’d played my new set of numbers. I’m glad I changed them!” He plans on using his EuroMillions winnings to make home improvements and help his family.
