Four tickets have shared the $28m jackpot available in the Canadian Lotto 6/49 draw held on Wednesday May 6. One of the winners is believed to be an elderly couple from Woodstock in Ontario, Canada whose ticket was sold to them by Brad Long who runs a lotto kiosk at a Walmart store in Norwich Avenue, Woodstock.
Long runs the kiosk with his wife, Tammy, and he says a customer came in to buy a Lotto Max ticket. The kiosk owner then asked if they wanted to purchase a ticket for the Canadian Lotto 6/49 draw too as the jackpot was so large. They decided to do so and it’s turned out to be a life-changing moment.
On Saturday the customer returned to the lotto kiosk telling Brad that they were a big winner. Long recalled the moment he served a Canadian Lotto 6/49 millionaire. “We asked them how much and they said well we think we won 6.8 million dollars on the Lotto 649 from the Wednesday draw. We put it through our terminal and it froze our terminal and they were right, they won $6, 800,000.”
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLGC) have confirmed that of the four winning tickets for the Canadian Lotto 6/49 draw, two were purchased in Toronto and Kingston and another was the ticket purchased in Woodstock. The lucky numbers in the May 6 Lotto 6/49 draw were: 13-16-19-24-27-30 and the Bonus Number 48.
Long said knowing that he and his wife had sold a winning ticket “makes us feel great”, and that they love putting smiles on people’s faces. This is the biggest winning ticket they have sold but not their first of great value. “My wife owns the business here. She gave away $1 million three weeks after she took the booth over,” said Long.
It’s believed the lucky Canadian Lotto 6/49 winners are an elderly couple who have been married for 53 years. They were off to Toronto on Monday (May 11) to claim their amazing prize. They follow in the footsteps of the Rice Krispie loving $1m winners we reported about last month.
