FATHER AND DAUGHTER DUO WIN CANADIAN LOTTO MAX TOP PRIZE AFTER PLAYING FOR SIX MONTHS

A father and daughter from eastern Canada who decided to start playing the Lotto Max together have gone and won a top prize, after only six months of buying tickets.

Darren Doyle and his daughter Carlee, who both live in Charlottetown, the capital city on Prince Edward Island in Canada’s maritime country, started buying Lotto Max tickets together six months ago and they have already seen a huge return on their investments. Mr Doyle said that he always wakes up early the morning after a Lotto Max draw so that he can check the results before anybody else, and last week he found the results were a little more exciting than usual.

Seeing that there had been a winner of $1 million from Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island, Mr Doyle looked into it further and soon discovered that the winning numbers matched those on the ticket that he had purchased with his daughter. It wasn’t long, then, before Darren Doyle, Carlee and the rest of the family were all awake and out of bed celebrating the win.

Coincidentally, the Doyle parents had also celebrated their wedding anniversary on the draw date, so the family had something extra special to celebrate last week. The father and daughter Lotto team will split the winnings equally, and Mr Doyle said that he is currently trying to keep his feet on the ground.

“I’m trying to stay as mellow and low key as I can,” said the Lotto Max winner, “but eventually it’s going to hit me,” he finished, not unlike another recent Lotto Max winner from Ottawa who said his head was in the clouds after winning big. The father is planning to buy himself a Mustang with his share of the winnings, fulfilling a life-long dream, and he will also buy his wife a new car.

Carlee Doyle will also be buying herself a car, but she told lottery officials that “the possibilities are endless.” The winning ticket was purchased at the Belvedere Esso on Brackley Point Road in Charlottetown, and the winners celebrated their lottery prize at the Cavendish Beach Music festival.
