After a bounty of lottery winners last weekend and during the midweek draws, all eyes were on the Mega Millions lottery this weekend, as it boasted the largest jackpot that lottery players have seen in some time.
The Mega Millions has been rolling over for several weeks now, and Friday evening’s jackpot was worth an estimated $144 million to any ticket holder across the 43 member states which take part in the lottery game. However, as the numbers were drawn in New York City, there were no ticket holders who matched all of the five main white numbers as well as the yellow Mega Ball.
The $144 million jackpot rolled over thanks to Friday evening’s washout and is now going to be worth an estimated $160 million for the next Mega Millions draw on Tuesday, August 19th. The balls drawn on Friday were 16, 19, 28, 29 and 68 while the Mega Ball was 9.
Despite there being no jackpot winner in the multi-state lottery, there was one winner of the second tier prize. This winner, who according to the Mega Millions lottery was from Illinois, matched all of the five main numbers, missing just the Mega Ball, to win a $1 million prize from the lottery.
There were also 38 third tier prize winners of Friday, each of whom matched four out of the five main numbers and the Mega Ball to win a $5,000 prize fund.
While the Mega Millions keeps on rolling, the EuroMillions jackpot is currently in its infancy after finding a winner last weekend. The jackpot on Friday was worth £37.7 million across the European member countries, and the winning numbers drawn were 4, 21, 30, 5 and 23 with Lucky Stars 10 and 8.
However, there were no players whose ticket matched all of these numbers, leading the jackpot to rollover for the second time in a row. Therefore the jackpot will now be worth £43 million o Tuesday August 19th. The EuroMillions offers as well the Millionaire Raffle in the United Kingdom, giving to its players the chance to win a guaranteed million pounds.
