One half of a couple that won £148 million on the EuroMillions five years ago is still spreading her wealth, as she invests in a hairdressing company.Gillian Bayford, who won £148 million on the EuroMillions lottery together with her husband Adrian back in 2012, has invested in her latest small business, following the setting up of a property empire earlier this year. Her “low-rent” lettings empire was set up with the purchase of 40 homes in Tayside and Angus, worth £7 million, and now she’s moved on to further investment. A Mega Millions winner from California used his $180 million jackpot to invest in several local businesses including a steakhouse.The EuroMillions winner is named as a co-director of Cameron’s Hair Ltd in Edinburgh, and she said locally that she enjoys putting businesses together from the start. “Anyone can pay £35 to open up a company and put their name on it,” she said. “There’s a lot more goes into it before it goes live.” Ms Bayford insisted that she is using her fortune to help others. Last year the EuroMillions winner was so moved by a story about a mother who was fundraising for her disabled son that she bought the family a specially adapted home.Of her property business, A&G Properties, the lottery winner explained that there was a huge lack of houses to rent in the local area. “I’ve purchased houses and done them up to a high standard so people can get back to stay in the community.” Despite spending millions on these houses, the EuroMillions winner insisted that she’s no different just because of her money in the bank. “The money goes towards helping the unfortunate or people who require assistance,” she explained.Ms Bayford moved to Dundee after winning the EuroMillions with her ex-husband, Adrian, and their subsequent divorce.
