A 32-strong syndicate from Thurles in Co. Tipperary, Ireland, brought Dublin’s Abbey Street to a standstill on Friday June 15. The syndicate are the lucky winners of the €17m EuroMillions jackpot prize won in the June 5 draw.The EuroMillions winning syndicate come from Stakelum’s Hardware Store and they arrived at the National Lottery office by bus as they came to claim their fantastic prize. It’s not the first time this has happened in Dublin. Last year a syndicate from Cork hired a bus to take them to claim their €369,210 EuroMillions win. Another lucky Irish syndicate took a bus to collect their €24m EuroMillions jackpot but then again, they were all bus drivers. In England, bus driver Kevin Jones landed a £6m UK Lotto jackpot win.The delighted EuroMillions syndicate will each receive €531.250 each. When they arrived, National Lottery staff formed a guard of honour for the EuroMillions jackpot winners. The syndicate was formed over 25 years ago and includes past and present employees. Their winning numbers were 09-15-22-39-46 and the two Lucky Stars 04 and 05.Their spokesperson, Gerald Sammon told of how life has been since they discovered the syndicate had won the EuroMillions jackpot. “At first we simply couldn’t believe it. We were stunned, but we have had over a week to let the good news sink in. It has been an absolute roller-coaster. We are all absolutely delighted it will make a huge difference to all of our lives."He added that the EuroMillions winning syndicate have been touched by the goodwill shown to them from other employees at the hardware store and people in their town. Speaking about the bus journey to collect their EuroMillions win, Mr Sammon said, “There was great crack on the bus and everybody is in super form” and it will be a day they will always remember.Their jackpot winning EuroMillions ticket was purchased from Eason in Thurles Shopping Centre. The win comes just eight moths after the store sold a €7.5m winning Irish Lotto ticket.The EuroMillions jackpot win is the 13th won by players from Ireland. The largest ever win was the first one as in 2005 Dolores McNamara won over €115 million. In January 2016, a syndicate of friends won a €66m EuroMillions jackpot.
