A lucky lottery player from Darlington in the North of England has thanked her lucky stars as two days after retiring she won £30,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Jean Bibby’s postcode was drawn as a Street Prize winner in the People’s Postcode Lottery drawing, and she found out earlier this month when lottery ambassador Judie McCourt arrived on her doorstep with a cheque. Recently we told you about a group of neighbours from Barrow in Lancashire, England, who shared a £3 million windfall from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

“I have only just retired after spending over 37 years working as a lunchtime supervisor at the local school,” Ms Bibby told People’s Postcode Lottery officials, adding that she couldn’t think of a better way to kickstart her retirement than with her £30,000 cheque. A man from British Columbia in Canada was able to kickstart his retirement after winning $2 million on the BC Lotto 49 earlier this year.

The Middleton St George woman originally signed up to play the People’s Postcode Lottery with her husband, Kevin, who sadly passed away from cancer three years ago, and her sister also recently died from the same illness. “I’ve had a tough couple of years so it’s really lovely to get some positive news,” the lucky lottery player said, adding that everyone around her has been completely thrilled for her, including her two children and new partner, Frank. If she wasn’t already retired, Jean could easily take early retirement, just like a Lotto 649 winner from Ontario, Canada after they won $20 million.

“Frank rides a motorbike and since meeting him it’s become a passion of mine too, but I’ve not got my own leathers,” the 72-year-old told People’s Postcode Lottery officials. “I’ll be treating myself to those,” she added. A Lotto Max winner from British Columbia, Canada, planned to buy himself a new motorcycle after he won $1 million.

The lucky retiree added that in order to celebrate her £30,000 People’s Postcode Lottery win, she’ll be celebrating with a motorbike ride, with Frank, around the beautiful countryside close to their Darlington home. A retired Irish couple were planning for the holiday of their lifetimes after they won big on the Irish Lotto and were able to make the most of their retirement and new-found freedom.
