TRIO OF MASSIVE LOTTERY JACKPOTS IN MIDWEEK DRAWS

The main weekend lotteries ended in rollovers and that means some massive jackpots on the line for the next EuroMillions, Mega Millions and Powerball draws. Tuesday sees a £123m EuroMillions jackpot and a $303m Mega Millions jackpots on the line and a $193m Powerball jackpot the following night. Let’s look back at some of this year’s biggest winners in these lotteries.

The largest jackpot at present is the Mega Millions draw and on Tuesday, players will be trying to win themselves the $303m top prize which has a one-off cash option of $176m. The last big win was when in July of this year, a syndicate of bank workers from San Jose in California, USA, won a $543m Mega Millions jackpot and then carried on working much to the surprise of their customers.

Also celebrating was a lucky player in Ohio, USA, after their ticket saw them scoop $143m playing the Mega Millions draw earlier this year. The year got off to a good start with Shane Missler from Florida becoming a £450m Mega Millions winner.

In Europe, players are dreaming of winning the EuroMillions jackpot on Tuesday after Friday’s EuroMillions Superdraw ended in a rollover. That means a jackpot of £123m on Tuesday which is the highest seen this year. The previous highest was the £121m EuroMillions jackpot won by a ticket in the UK in April.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is $193m with a cash option of $112.9m. Earlier this year a ticket sold in Staten Island, New York, USA, landed the $245.7m Powerball top prize.  The state of New Jersey has had a lot of good lottery luck. One ticket won $315.3m thanks to Powerball. That win came just a few months after Richard Wahl was lucky enough to win a $533m Mega Millions jackpot to in the draw held on March 30 and it was only the second ticket he’d ever purchased.

If you were to get a big lottery win, would you decide to let everyone know about it or ask to remain anonymous?  That was the big dilemma earlier this year for a $559.7m Powerball winner from New Hampshire, USA, who had to go to court to be allowed to remain anonymous despite signing the back of her ticket.

The big Powerball win this year was when a ticket sold in Pennsylvania, USA, won a 456.7m Powerball top prize in the draw held on March 17.
