The July 25 TattsLotto draw was a great one for lottery players in Australia. There were ten tickets that won $2m and one of the winners needed a lot of convincing it wasn’t a joke.

One of the lucky winners comes from Davenport in South Australia. The female player has asked to remain anonymous and is still getting over the shock of winning.  The lucky player received a phone call from a TattsLotto official telling her she’d won $2m.

Is this a Joke?

Shocked at the news she swore and said “you’re joking. I don’t believe you.” Her partner didn’t believe the news either. She then told the lottery official that she was still in her pyjamas, needed a shower and would then go to a shop to get her win confirmed.

Every week she buys a QuickPick entry but says she’s never had a win anywhere near this large. “I can’t imagine spending it until I have it,” said the shocked winner. She plans on saving her winnings until the present health crisis eases.

Her winning ticket was purchased from Waterfront News & Lotto in Devonport. Owner Rod Hurley is delighted for her and said: “Being able to play a part in changing someone’s life is pretty exciting.” He added that once he finds out which of his staff sold the winning ticket, he’ll give them a special present.

I’m Very Lucky Indeed

Also becoming a TattsLotto millionaire is a woman from South Gippsland in Australia. She’s been playing the game every week since 1972. Even though she’s just won $2m, the lucky winner isn’t going to give up playing.

It’s not her first big TattsLotto win, a few years ago she won several hundred thousand dollars. This is much larger though and she admits “I haven’t come down off cloud nine yet” and thinks “I’ll be numb for a little while yet.”

After taxes, she’ll walk away with $1.428m and plans on sharing her winnings with her family. "I've got a big family, so I can't wait to celebrate and share it with them," the lottery winner said. "I consider myself very lucky. I'm very lucky indeed."

The numbers that made her a millionaire were: 06-09-16-32-37-44 and the two supplementary numbers 11 and 12.

Just like the other $2m TattsLotto winner in this article, she has asked to keep her identity secret. Of the ten winners, four came from New South Wales, three from Victoria and one each in Western Australia, South Australia, and Tasmania.

Her winning ticket was purchased from the Nextra Leongatha Newsagency in Leongatha. Its owner Deb Watchorn celebrated by decorating her store with signs and balloons. This is a lucky store with four division one winning tickets sold in the past decade. That includes selling a $40m Oz Lotto ticket in 2016.
