EDMONTON MAN WINS $30 MILLION CANADIAN LOTTO MAX PRIZEA man from Edmonton in Alberta, western Canada, has won a huge $30 million prize on the national Lotto Max game, all thanks to his long-time lottery habit.Mauro Bagnariol has been buying Lotto Max tickets on a regular basis for several years, and he saves them up to take back to the store to check every few weeks. The retired City of Edmonton worker therefore had no idea that he had won such a huge prize for several weeks after his ticket had matched the required numbers in the November 6th draw. That drawing in particular was worth an estimated $60 million, and Mr Bagnariol purchased his Lotto Max ticket from a 7-Eleven store in northwest Edmonton in the lead-up to the draw, returning to the store a few weeks later when he decided to check his ticket, opting to check it himself rather than allow the cashier to do it, as Derek Hulley did, another Alberta resident, who found out he won $10 million on the Lotto 649 after a cashier checked the ticket for him.“I put it in the scanner and a bunch of zeros came up and I said ‘Woah,’” the lottery winner told officials as he collected his prize this week, showing his level-headedness, unlike another Edmonton resident who said that she didn’t know what to do with herself after winning $2 million on the Lotto 649 game.“So I put it in there again to see if there was a decimal point there somewhere and there wasn’t. And it was $30 million dollars,” said the winner who was much more shocked than another Edmonton winner, Mary Ann Estanislao who won $15 million on the Lotto Max earlier this year. The ticket was one of two that matched all of the required numbers in the draw, meaning that the Canadian Lotto Max winner shared the jackpot with another ticket holder in Atlantic Canada. The first person who heard about Mr Bagnariol’s good news was his mother, but he decided to keep quiet with the rest of his family for a few days, as he was due in Calgary to celebrate his grandson’s birthday party and he didn’t want to overshadow the celebrations, similar to Bill and Andrea Groner, also from Edmonton, who chose to keep their Lotto Max win secret too, but for over six months. Now that everybody knows about his multi-million dollar Lotto Max fortune, however, Mr Bagnariol says that his first goal is to help his children to pay off their mortgages.“That’s the most important thing for me, being able to help my family,” he said. The winner will also make some investments with the money, but conceded: “If I was 30 years younger, I’d go out and buy a Ferrari.”Why not purchase your UK Lotto tickets online at Lottery24.com to follow in the footsteps of Mr Bagnariol.
