Family Court Battle for $1.35 billion Mega Millions Winner

The winner of last year’s $1.35bn Mega Millions jackpot continues to have family problems. The Maine, USA resident is already suing his daughter’s mother and is now being accused of not financially helping his family as promised.

When winning his massive Mega MIllions jackpot, the lucky winner said he wished to remain anonymous and is only referred to as ‘John Doe.’

“Not the son I knew”

This month has seen his father file legal papers against his own son. They include the statement: “I told him… "You are not the son I knew.” His son allegedly reacted to that by calling his father a “dictator” and they haven’t spoken to each other since then.

The Mega MIllions winner received his winnings as a one-off lump sum payment. After the payment of taxes, he received around $500 million.

Anonymity meant a lot to him but he claims his daughter’s mother, ‘Sara Smith (not her real name),’ told other relatives  about the Mega Millions win. He’s now suing her for breaking a non-disclosure agreement  that had been signed.

The latest legal papers claim that it was the Mega Millions winner himself who had told his father and stepmother about his windfall.

It was only a month or so after his Mega Millions win that problems began between him and his father. He’d told his parent about his win but didn’t ask him to sign a confidentiality agreement. He then didn’t tell his father the plans he had for his winnings.

Misled

His father claims that he’s been misled by his son. He claims that several promises of financial assistance were made by his son after the Mega MIllions win. None of these have come to fruition.

The latest court papers include other allegations such as Smith having her daughter “kidnapped” though a police report said “no crime” had been committed.

Another claim is that the $1.35bn Mega Millions winner is getting revenge on her for refusing to get back together with him. It’s all getting rather nasty but hopefully some solution to the disputes will be found.
