Food Galore for €73 million French EuroMillions Jackpot Winners

A tasty time lies ahead for a French couple from Var who won a €73 million EuroMillions jackpot in the February 20 draw.

Their win is the largest-ever EuroMillions success in that area. In total, they won a fantastic €73,448,160. It beats a €15 million prize won nine years ago.

It was the numbers 23-31-37-42-48 and the Lucky Stars 03 and 07 that won them their EuroMillions jackpot.

Their winning ticket was purchased from a tobacco shop in Ollioules. The couple regularly play the EuroMillions draw. They didn’t follow the draw live though and the male half of the couple finally checked the results at 10.25pm. After constantly looking at their ticket, told his wife: “It’s us.”

The female half of the winning couple (who have declined to reveal their names) said of their windfall; "It feels like destiny, like love falling upon us.”

Secret drawers

To ensure their winning EuroMillions ticket was kept safe, they hid it in an antique desk. It was one with secret drawers so ideal for keeping a €73 million winning ticket safe.  A $1 million winning Powerball syndicate kept their winning ticket inside a textbook.

They plan to carry on playing EuroMillions as  “To win, you have to play,” is their motto. Their family has played lottery games for decades with her father even keeping a notebook that was full of possible combinations.

Plans for their EuroMillions winnings include travelling. They love cooking so a culinary journey around France and other European countries is on its way.  Spending money on home renovations and spending more time with their family is also planned.

Christmas may be a long way away, but the EuroMillions winners have big plans for this year’s celebration. Their aim is to get all their family members together for a big seasonal party.

Their win was the second for France in 2024. January saw a ticket sold in France win a €87.9 million EuroMillions jackpot. Friday’s draw has a £62 million (€73 million) top prize.
