Strangers Receive Surprise from Kentucky Lottery Winner
Crystal Dunn from Louisville, USA, won a $146,351.74 jackpot this month. Soon after her Kentucky Lottery win, she went to a grocery store to deliver a massive surprise to local shoppers.
Her win came in the Kentucky Lottery’s online game - the Bank Buster Jackpot instant play.
She looked at her computer screen and was shocked to discover her win. The 42-year-old mother-of-three couldn’t believe it and kept shouting “No way, no way” followed by “That’s not possible.”
It was though and after paying all her taxes, around $75,000 will be received. Instantly, she decided some of her win would be used to help others.
Grocery store visit
Off Crystal went to a local grocery store but it wasn’t apples or bananas she was going to buy. Instead, the Kentucky Lottery winner purchased 20 $100 gift cards and then just handed them out to shoppers, even though she didn’t know any of them.
“A lot of people were in disbelief,” said the generous winner. Many of them gave her a big hug. Asked why she gave people the gift cards, she replied: “because I know what it’s like to struggle.”
Crystal then recalled her childhood when she lived in several foster homes. At the age of 16, she ran away and has been looking after herself ever since. That included attending college and a long-term job with a health insurance company.
“You just have to push forward,” said the Kentucky Lottery winner. She hopes her story will inspire others, especially children, who are having struggles.
At first, she didn’t want to be interviewed about her win. Then she realised this was a perfect chance to send out some positivity. She told how when finding out about her Kentucky Lottery win, she wished someone else had won it “because I do okay, I can take care of myself.”
The 42-year-old says that she’s been saving up for a few items and this win will allow her to buy them. That includes a new car and perhaps some home renovations.
