Former air stewardess Kelly Caldwell is flying high after she used her EuroMillions winnings to tie the knot with her childhood sweetheart.
Kelly, 31, from Runcorn won a £1m EuroMillions prize on Good Friday last year and married long-term partner Jason Massey last Friday (August 8th). They say your wedding is the happiest day of your life and the ceremony was something she’d wanted all her life. Kelly said of her big day: “I always dreamed of having a lavish wedding at an amazing venue in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. But I’d ruled out as I thought we would never be able to afford it.”
At the time of her big win Kelly and Jason were sharing a house with her mother but they now have their own home. Kelly also left her job as a cabin crew worker for Easyjet and now spends more time with her three-year old daughter Hollie.
The couple went on holiday after the win to let the news sink in and then started planning what Kelly has called “the wedding of my dreams.”
The wedding took place at Willington Hall in Tarporley and was attended by more than 80 friends and family. Kelly wore a white dress which was specially made for her and covered in Swarovski crystals. Speaking about her great day Kelly said: “I have tied the knot with the man of my dreams, in my dream wedding dress and at my dream venue.”
The couple plan on going on a honeymoon later this year, but haven’t decided where. The lucky winner said “Everything does still seem a bit surreal. We have not decided where we will go; it doesn’t seem real that we can literally choose anywhere.”
Her win last year came just hours after she’d won £700 on bingo. Because of that win she decided to double her usual expenditure on lottery tickets and won another £1m. Kelly had a few wins in the past but “generally about £20 at the most.” Since her win she has done work for charity and still plays EuroMillions every week.
